David possesses over a decade of real estate investing experience in Asia. Prior to founding Starcrest, David was involved in multiple complex restructurings, pre-IPO private equity investments of real estate developers for Goldman Sachs’ Special Situation Group. David had joined Goldman Sachs from Macquarie Global Property Advisors (MGPA) where he focused on the execution of acquisitions and portfolio management for Asia (ex-Japan).

David is a graduate of Ohio State University with an honours degree in Business Administration.

Jeff joined the Starcrest partnership team in 2013 bringing with him a wealth of experience in the real estate development industry. Prior to joining Starcrest, Jeff worked with Angelo, Gordon as the Managing Director for the Hong Kong and Shanghai offices, and oversaw development projects across China. Prior to AG, Jeff was heading up Henderson Global Investors (“HGI”) real estate practice in China. Jeff gained experience in some of the most high-profile transactions through his earlier times with CarVal Investors and Lone Star Funds.

Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Elvin co-founded Starcrest as the Managing Partner based out of Hong Kong, armed with over 22 years of experience in investment banking and real estate investment. Elvin was previously the Head of Corporate Finance at Macquarie Global Property Advisors (MGPA) where he led deal execution for the fund on Asia (ex-Japan) investments. Elvin is formerly an equity analyst with Bear Stearns covering downstream public Asian technology companies in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He also spent some time in investment banking with Platinum Securities, a boutique investment bank where he headed their Singapore operations before moving to Hong Kong with the firm advising Hong Kong and Singapore companies on corporate finance activities.

Elvin holds an honours degree in Economics from Leicester University in the United Kingdom.

Leo co-founded Starcrest as the Managing Partner based in Shanghai, bringing with him extensive experience in the China real estate sector. Prior to setting up Starcrest, Leo was the Deputy CEO of Super Ocean Group — a prominent private real estate developers in Shanghai and was responsible for the management of the real estate part of the private conglomerate. There, Leo was overseeing the group’s land bank acquisition, project development and asset management. Prior to Super Ocean, Leo was part of the investment team at Macquarie Banking and First China Property Group. Leo started his career at Shanghai Changning District Planning Bureau where he was responsible for negotiation / monitor / permitting approvals for key district development projects, coordination with other local government apparatus (including other district and municipal planning bureau, land bureaus, and construction bureaus), and coordination with various developers.

Leo is a MBA graduate of Fudan University.

Ms. Chan has over 20 years of experience in the finance and real estate investment industry. Prior to joining Starcrest in 2010, Ms. Chan was with JPMorgan, where she was responsible for origination and execution of real estate investments for the JPMorgan Greater China Property Fund with focus on joint venture development deals. Prior to JPMorgan, Ms. Chan was with Macquarie Global Property Advisors (MGPA), focusing on real estate investment and asset management across Asia (ex-Japan) and DTZ Debenham Tie Leung Limited covering real estate advisory in China. Before moving to the real estate industry, Ms. Chan also held various positions in corporate finance and financial advisory.

Ms. Chan is a graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong with an honours degree in Business Administration. She is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Certified Public Accountant.

Michelle has 30 years of experience in real estate development and construction. Prior to joining Starcrest in 2018, she was with Shanghai Oriental Financial Plaza Enterprises Development (Anhui Expressway Group), where she focused on development management and construction approval /permitting.

Michelle is a graduate of Tongji University with a Master of Technical Economy and Management degree.

Alan oversaw the development management of some of the largest commercial projects in Shanghai during his 28-year career in real estate development and architectural design. Prior to joining Starcrest in 2020, he was with Shanghai Taishang Project Management Co. Ltd., where he led development management for projects in Shanghai.

Alan is a graduate of the Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College with a degree in Industrial and Civil Architecture.

Mr. Deng has over 15 years of office leasing experience. Prior to joining Starcrest in 2015, Mr. Deng served as Senior Leasing Manager at Jones Lang LaSalle representing Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds (“MSREF”). He was responsible for MSREF’’s Sandhill Plaza, an office property in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Shanghai, China, achieving full occupancy for Sandhill Plaza during his tenure. Prior to Jones Lang LaSalle, Deng was with Shanghai Darb Property Consultants, where he was responsible for office leasing across Shanghai market and secured commercial real estate leases in excess of 50,000 sqm.

Mr. Deng holds a diploma in Marketing from Shanghai Open University. And he is a veteran with Outstanding Soldier Award of China’s armored infantry.

Ms. Ng has over 20 years of experience in the finance and real estate investment industry. Prior to joining Starcrest in 2011, Ms. Ng was with Macquarie Global Property Advisors (MGPA), where she focused on managing the fund and property accounting for a portfolio of real estate assets throughout Asia and preparing quarterly reports to investors. Prior to MGPA, Ms. Ng was with Sun Chung Property Management, Bank of China Group Investment’s subsidiary covering the finance function.

Ms. Ng is a graduate of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University with an honours degree in Accountancy. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
